Interior/Exterior Line Cleaning
Problems are not always just associated with septic systems. Plumbing is part of every home and building and with that comes the potential for lines clogging regardless if you have a septic system or city sewer. This can be caused by a variety of reasons: Paper and waste could catch and cause a plug, greases and soaps from sinks and various other sources can build up over time and restrict water flow, and of course, there are those pesky tree roots. Roots can find their way into any connection or seam of the exterior lines and cause blockage.
At Kuettel’s Septic, we have all of the latest equipment to handle these problems. Our high-pressure water jetter can be used to break up and flush these plugs out of the line. We also have a cable machine with cutting tips to clear out roots and can treat the line to deter them from coming back (see products). Various sized lines and cables allow us to handle jobs from sink lines up to main lines leaving the house.
As for odd jobs, we handle them too! Plugged lines for downspouts, drainage lines, garage drains… if it can plug, we can open it!
Mound Jetting
Proper drainage of a septic systems drainfield is essential for it to work. As time passes, small solids and other particles inevitably make their way through the system and into the mound. These particles plug up the holes in the piping that is running through your mound. When this happens, water can no longer drain as easily through the pipe as it now has a smaller area to go through. If not taken care of, this can cause many problems.
Sewage can begin to push out of your mound on the surface and sides as these are the only places for it to go. Your pump inside the pump chamber of your tank is forced to work harder and longer as it tries to push water through smaller areas. This can cause it to run for long periods of time, sometimes not even shutting off, using more electricity and even burning up and needing replacing.
Water jetting can clean these lines out if they become plugged. Mound systems installed after the year 2000 are designed with flush ports that allow us to open the ends of the lines within the mound and high pressure water jet the lines clean. We also add a high dose of bacteria to help seep in deeper and improve drainage. This is a very good process to have done occasionally for maintenance purposes.
Conventional and In-Ground Pressure drainfield jetting:
A septic technician may recommend high pressure water jetting the drainfield when a system is not draining properly. This poor drainage could be due to sludge build-up, ice, or other blockage. This is especially the case as systems age. Build-up of solids in the soils and lines slow how quickly the water can drain away. This process usually involves entering the tank to flush out the drainfield lines and clear the blockage. Then a high dose of bacteria is added to aid in opening up the drainfield. Typically this is done when a system is backing up or causing other problems, but some homeowners have found it beneficial to do for maintenance to avoid future issues.
